New B717 operator. 9 x B717 will come later this year to replace the MD90's and Avro RJ85's.

I've heard this rumour before.

Source and reliability of this rumour?

I see an ad for JAA -717 crews on PAS Av website:

http://www.pas-aviation.aero/index.cfm?srv=cms&rub=213&srub=213&prub=213&id=100282

Maybe this is for Blue1 ?  Wouldn't they just start transitioning their own crews a few at a time to the -717 without getting temporary crews ?  Are there likely any JAA -717 crews around to take this job ?

Well spotted! I agree it seems a bit weird, since the 717 most likely are to be used as replacement for the Avro's or MD-90s'... if they are going to KF that is.

The news is from reliable source ;)

PAS Aviation was also looking for MD90 First Officers for Blue1 one month ago.

Blue1 needs the MD90 and B717 crews for the transition period.

I have a couple of reliable sources as well  8), but since the info came long time ago and nothing seemed to materialize, I was starting to get a little sceptic.

Anywho, I made a few calls today and it looks like initialy four aircraft are involved SE-REL/REN/REO/REP. Since you mentioned nine, I guess the remainder five will join too.

18 Boeing 717? Huh! I only got news about the plan to take nine aircraft and to the plan to expand to fourteen aircraft within two years. Nevertheless Blue1 will replace their MD-90s first, followed by the AVRO RJ85s.

It is a nice verdict that Blue1 builds their future around the 717.

Regards!

Yup. Delivered by Southern Cross Aviation ferry company Miami-Bangor-Keflavik-Helsinki. More pictures here:

The 717's are individually decorated by art students at Aalto University in Helsinki;  I guess flight crews performing preflight walk-arounds should be careful with staring to long at this part of the livery (courtesy Sami VJ Hämäläinen, Flightforum Finland):

Blue1 took delivery of their second Boeing 717-200. This aircraft will bear the registration OH-BLJ and is temporarly registered SE-REL.

Can somebody inform us about their planned inauguration? Most sources say that the aircraft is in operation but I was not able to find a reliable source and the website is not updated with new fleet-info etc..
